Sweetmeat shops in Mathura and Vrindawan, at this point, are bustling with a variety of sweets that have been known to be Sri Krishna's favourite. Some devotees of Lord Krishna prepare these sweets at home with much fervour too. 



Hindus celebrate Janmashtami by fasting, singing, praying together, preparing and sharing special food, night vigils, and visiting Krishna or Vishnu temples. Milk sweets like rabri, kheer, peda, gopalkala, Misti Doi, kalakand etc. are some of the favourite sweet items of Lord Krishna. Maakhan Mishri: It is considered to be Lord Krishna's favourite, it is made with fresh homemade butter that is mixed with rock sugar or sugar and offered to the deity. 5. Panchamrit: It is used to bathe Lord Krishna at midnight; the concoction is made with fresh milk, curd, ghee, honey, sugar, tulsi leaves and butter.
